ACHIEVEMENTS:

New Focus, Inc. is an optical research equipment company founded by Frank in our garage in 1990. While involved from the beginning I became an employee during it's second year. At first I had many varied tasks. These included inventory, receiving, shipping, sales and purchasing. Part of the purchasing was qualifying and maintaining relationships with vendors, including machine shops. As the company grew we needed more organization and I served on the committee to chose and implement an MRP system.
The company is now 130 employees with most of the above functions being departments. The last few years at New Focus my position was to work with the engineers on new products from conception to prototype completion.

Before New Focus a goal was to own a restaurant. To obtain information and experience I worked first for McDonald's where I went from crew to store manager and then for the Cardinal restaurant. The Cardinal was a new restaurant and I started there before it opened.

During the years I remained at home with our children I served in a variety of volunteer positions. For our church I taught religious education classes and held numerous offices in the women's organization. Setup and managed a program for the gifted and talented in the elementary school. As part of this program I taught classes on dissection and aeronautics. I couched soccer for 5 years and was a scout leader.

At Mayo I was employed in the research labs as a chemist. First in the estrogen lab doing research with pregnancy and cancer and then in the coagulation lab.

For the military I was involved in research on riot control and nerve gas detection.

Milprint Inc. is a printing firm chiefly producing food packaging. As a chemist I did product environment tests but was mainly responsible for analyzing competitors' product.
